Damn. people walking in to blow your bathroom up, see you in your underwear, screaming your name outside your door, asking your neighbors about you..... what a strange, strange mentality the Watchtower breeds in folks.
By the way, tenyearsafter, I've only been out a little over a year now, but I was a heavily used MS. It still amazes me to this day how abrupt and fast the "love" dries up when you stop going. Almost makes a person wonder if it was real "brotherly love" in the first place.....

here are some questions that i thought would be interesting to ask a jw if they were open to a free and open discussion.
this assumes a christian worldview that the bible is the word of god.

I'll bite.
1. Irrelevant. True Christians have always worshipped Jehovah, not Jesus. Any "history" that says otherwise if written by enemies of the Watchtower.
2. Not neccesarily. You see the Bible has both figurative and symbolic applications. Depending on what doctrine the WTBS is trying to push.
3. I'm sure there's some reason we don't understand yet. Wait on Jehovah.
4. "His ways are higher" or something like that. Wait on Jehovah.
5. Different word usage, different times. But in no way detracts from WTBS doctrine.
6. Figurative usage here.
7. That's easy. Jehovah had a boatload of extra sulphur that he couldn't move. Maud'dib, the angel from accounting suggested they hide the losses by adding sulphur to the rain. they would rain it on a pair of cities with a high homosexual population.

The best advice I've ever heard on this board on how to handle "pop-ins" was to step outside to talk to who ever was so rude to pop over without calling first. You don't have to let rude folks into your home.

Finklestein - I was thinking the same thing actually. They feel "enabled" to "exercise authority" because of some BS somebody told them. Therefore, in their minds they have a "warrent" to enter and search the premises whenever they see fit.
wasblind - It's strange, they will go sometimes an entire YEAR without showing up and then BAM! out of nowhere they want to talk. SBC is doing well, I was just sexting him the other day. Just kidding, I will tell him you said hello. Or... I'll give you his address and you and me will "pop-in" hahaha I slay me.

several years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

Jw07, I used to think it might be plagerizing, but then I was like screw it, it's all gibberish anyway. I might as well be up there reading a Chinese take-out menu.
the longer I researched and prepared talks the worse and more nervous I'd be, but the last minute,hardly any prep and the better they'd be, so that was my way.
Very true, jook. I used to watch other JWs struggling and freaking out trying to write talks. They weren't stupid guys or bad writers, they were just guys that were taking it TOO seriously and actually trying to write creatively their own thoughts. This is a major no-no. The outlines/information is set up so that you basically just read what they tell you read. there is no room to add your own commentary, and if you do, you get yelled at. So when I discovered that all I had to do was read some stupid article from the 2001 Watchtower and everyone would praise it thinking I wrote it, I was on Easy Street. And by then I didn't believe any of it so I would just go up there and mechanically read the article while in the back of my head thinking about boobs or setting up my fantasy team or whatever.

oh it's a chronology/doctrine thing? In that case I always stayed away from that crap. Kept my talks as "vanilla" and watered down as possible.
